Here are some simple natural shampoo recipes that are easy to make, easy to use and provide effective performance without having to add synthetically made chemical ingredients.

SHAMPOO RECIPES 11 to 16


Recipe 11 – Natural Lemon Fresh Shampoo

Ingredients :

  • 175 ml distilled water
  • 50 ml shampoo concentrate (or substitute with 125 ml unscented shampoo and increase salt to 1 tsp.)
  • 0.5 tsp. table salt
  • 30 gm dried chamomile
  • 15 gm dried rosemary
  • 10 ml sweet almond oil
  • 1 ml lemon oil
  • 1 drop yellow food colouring (optional)

Add the water to a saucepan and bring to the boil.
Add dried chamomile and rosemary to the water and remove the pan from the heat.
Let the herbs soak in the water for 20 minutes.
Pour the water through a strainer and into a collecting bowl and discard the herbs.
Add the shampoo concentrate to the water and stir until it has dissolved.
Add the almond oil, lemon oil and food colouring and stir until blended.
Add the salt and stir until the mixture thickens.
Let the mixture cool to room temperature and add to your container ready to use.

Recipe 12 – Simple and Effective Natural Advantage Shampoo

Ingredients :

  • 50 ml honey or light corn syrup
  • 125 ml glycerin
  • 15 ml witch hazel
  • 50 ml orange flower water
  • 5 ml liquid soap
  • 15 ml vodka

Mix all ingredients together.
Ready for use as soon as it is mixed.

Recipe 13 – Natural Peppermint Tingle Shampoo

Ingredients :

  • 175 ml distilled water
  • 50 ml shampoo concentrate (or substitute with 125 ml unscented shampoo and increase salt to 1 tsp.)
  • 0.5 tsp. table salt
  • 2 tsp. jojoba oil
  • 1 drop peppermint oil

Warm the water and pour into a ceramic bowl.
Add the shampoo concentrate and stir until well blended.

Recipe 14 – Shampoo for Blonde Hair

Ingredients :

  • 125 ml castille liquid soap
  • 50 ml **infusion
  • 30 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil

Simply mix all the ingredients and pour into your container ready for use.

**Infusion (herb water):

  • 250 ml distilled water
  • 1 handful chamomile – dried
  • 1 handful horsehair (tail) - dried

Boil, soak, cool, and drain for infusion.

Recipe 15 – Soapwort Shampoo

Ingredients :

  • 250 ml water
  • 21 gm dried soapwort root (chopped)
  • 10 ml lemon verbena (for a citrus fragrance)

or

  • 10 ml catnip (also known as catswort or catmint)

Bring water to a boil.
Add soapwort and let it simmer with the cover on for about 20 minutes.
Remove from heat and add lemon verbena (or catnip) and allow mixture to cool.
Strain the mixture, keeping the liquid.
Pour into container ready for use and store in a cool, dark place.
Important : Must be used within 8 to 10 days.

Recipe 16 – Vanilla and Coconut Shampoo

Ingredients :

  • 175 ml distilled water
  • 50 ml shampoo concentrate (or substitute 125 ml unscented shampoo and increase salt to 1.5 tsp.)
  • 1 tsp. table salt
  • 15 ml coconut oil
  • 10 ml jojoba oil
  • 10 drops vanilla fragrance oil
  • 10 drops coconut fragrance oil

Warm the water and pour into a ceramic bowl.
Add the shampoo concentrate, stirring until well blended.
Add the salt, coconut oil, jojoba oil, vanilla fragrance oil and coconut fragrance oil. Stir with a wire whisk until the mixture becomes a smooth, thick liquid. Pour into a bottle and close, ready for use.
