There are five basic skin types.

Normal Skin

This type of skin has a fine, even and smooth surface. It has the best balance between oil and moisture making it neither greasy nor dry.

Normal skin has small, barely-visible pores. The skin appears clear and does not develop spots and blemishes. This type of skin needs minimal maintenance.

Dry Skin

This skin has a parched appearance and tends to easily flake. It is prone to wrinkles and lines due to the inability to retain moisture. Products with sebum characteristics will help maintain moisture.

Cold weather potentially dries the skin further. Constant moisturising, day and night is required to maintain healthy complexion.

Oily Skin

This skin is slightly to moderately greasy. Oily skin is caused by the over secretion of sebum. The excess oil retains dirt and dust from the environment which sticks to the surface of the skin.

This oily skin is usually prone to black heads, white heads, spots and pimples. Thorough daily cleaning is required to maintain a healthy look.

Combination Skin

This is the most common type of skin. It is a combination of oily and dry skin resulting in different parts of the face being affected by either oily or dry areas.

The oily parts are usually found on a central panel, called the T–Zone. The T-zone consists of the forehead, nose and chin. The dry areas are typically the cheeks and the areas around the eyes and mouth.

For the best skin condition, each part of the face should be treated as needed. Use a product for the dry areas and a different product for the oily areas.

Nowadays, there are single skin products made especially for those who have combination skin.

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin has a very fine texture. It is very sensitive to changes in the climate. It is easily irritated, bruised and/or scarred. Take extra care when bleaching, waxing and using perfumes.

Also take extra care when exposing skin to extreme temperatures, soaps, shaving creams, etc. Avoid products with dyes, perfumes and chemical ingredients that may aggravate the skin.
