Here are some simple natural advantage recipes that are easy to make, easy to use and provide effective performance without having to add synthetically made chemical ingredients.

SHAMPOO RECIPES 6 to 10


Recipe 6 – Natural Anti-Dandruff Treatment for Oily Scalp

Ingredients :

  • 30 ml apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice
  • 30 ml distilled water
  • 30 ml olive oil

Mix all ingredients together and massage into your scalp.
Allow the mixture to stay on the scalp for 20 minutes.
Then washout with shampoo.

Recipe 7 – Dry Shampoo or Rinse Free Shampoo (Ideal for Camping or when Water is not Available)

Ingredients :

  • 125 ml cornstarch
  • Fragrance oil (optional)

Sprinkle cornstarch into your hair and massage into hair and scalp.
Allow it to absorb for a few minutes, then brush out with a hairbrush. Repeat if necessary.
You can add a few drops of fragrance oil to the cornstarch to add a little scent.
Out of all the natural shampoo recipes, this one works very well when you need to make a plan.

Recipe 8 – Your Own Natural Herbal Shampoo

Ingredients :

  • 125 ml water
  • 2 tablespoon dried herbs from your local health shop (or your favourite **potpourri)
  • 125 ml neutral or natural baby shampoo
  • 30 ml glycerin

Mix water and herbs together and heat to make a strong tea. Let the mixture soak for at least 20 minutes and then add the shampoo and glycerin, stirring well. Pour the shampoo into a bottle and let sit overnight to thicken. Shampoo as you would normally and rinse well.

** Most potpourris usually begin with dried roses and lavender as a base.
After the base, you can add other dried aromatic herbs such as sweet basil, lemon verbena, sweet marjoram, lemon balm, scented geranium, rosemary, thyme and mint.
You can use this mixture for your Natural Herbal Shampoo.

If you wish to continue with your potpourri blend and make room fresheners, then follow the rest of the instructions below.
Mix 4 to 6 cups of your base and herbs in a mixing bowl.
From your kitchen, add a tablespoonful of whole cloves or cinnamon or ginger.
Next step is to blend the scents and to make them last as long as possible.
Add one of these fixatives; calamus root or benzoin or orris root.
Add 1 ounce of fixative per batch.
Mix all the ingredients lightly with your hands and store in jars with tight-fitting lids.
During the 4 to 5 week settling process, shake occasionally.
After this period, the potpourri mixture should be well blended and ready for use.

Recipe 9 – Natural Mint Herbal Shampoo

Ingredients :

  • 40 gm dry peppermint
  • 40 gm dry spearmint
  • 20 gm dry sage
  • 250 ml water
  • 150 ml baby shampoo or neutral shampoo

Combine herbs and water in a saucepan and bring to the boil.
Remove from heat and allow to soak for 20 minutes.
Strain out the herbs and mix the baby shampoo with the herbal water.
Add to your container for use.

Recipe 10 – Natural Advantage Shampoo for Highlighted Hair

Ingredients :

  • 125 ml water
  • 75 gm fresh chamomile, lavender, or rosemary
  • 125 ml milk shampoo or liquid castile soap
  • 30 ml glycerin

Mix the water and herbs together, and heat to make strong infusion.
Soak for 20 to 25 minutes and then strain.
Add shampoo and glycerin to the herbal water, stirring well.
Pour shampoo into bottle and let mixture sit overnight to thicken.
